San Juan Water

Low Rates

Water rates have a direct impact on your pocketbook and the quality of life in our community.  Four of the district wholesale agencies have lower rates.  They purchase the water from SJWD and operate in less costly, more efficient manner.   Everything does not need to increase in price, holding the line on costs and using my experience managing water agencies, we can drive efficiencies and abandon wasteful practices.

Local First
Our community and our water was founded on Agriculture.  The water should continue to be made available for local agriculture, gardeners and subsistence farmers.  In the State of California, the most efficient growers are on less than one acre.  Transfers and exporting our water is poor policy while we can grow right here which is simply more efficient and improves our lives.

Frugal is Responsible

San Juan Water is produced from Folsom Lake, delivered to San Juan's plant at pumping pressure.  Because the American River is a high quality source, San Juan (wholesale) is able to pass those savings to member agencies.  But the San Juan retail operations cannot compete with other local agencies (or agencies hundreds of miles from their water supply).  We live at the concourse of two major rivers with very senior water rights, comparisons to other California agencies is a distraction.  We need to focus on being as efficient and frugal in our operations as possible.
